Questions about selling us a box, buying from us, a pop-up event, or something we haven’t thought of — this reaches both of us. If you’re an author with copies to sell, the authors page has the details and the intake form, which is faster than starting here.
Got it.
You’ll have a copy in your inbox, and one of us will get back to you.
Where we are
Marana, Arizona.
Northwest of Tucson, along the Santa Cruz River. We’re a pop-up and an online shop for now, so there’s no address to visit yet — but this is the town we’re building for, and eventually in.
A few things about Marana
Southern Pacific railroad workers cutting track through dense mesquite along the river called the place maraña — Spanish for a tangle, a thicket, a jungle. It showed up as a flag station on a railroad map in 1890 and the name stuck.
The middle Santa Cruz Valley holds one of the longest records of continuous human occupation anywhere in North America. The Hohokam dug canal systems off the river to irrigate crops here centuries before anyone wrote any of it down.
The Marana airfield operated from 1942 to 1945 as the largest pilot training centre in the world, putting roughly 10,000 flyers through it. Cotton came before that and Westerns came after — John Wayne, Gene Autry, and Steve McQueen all shot in this desert.
Marana incorporated in 1977 with around 1,500 residents. It now has more than 60,000 and is the fastest-growing community in southern Arizona. It still doesn’t have an independent bookstore.
